Research Analyst

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Analyst/ Senior Analyst, dependent on experience, to join our 8-member European Real Assets Research Team. This team plays a key role in formulating CBRE Investment Management’s investment strategy and steering decision making for portfolio construction. The successful candidate will be involved in the forecasting of European real estate markets, assisting the head of European Forecasting in the production of rent, yield, and other key metrics forecasts of European markets. The successful candidate will also support the Research team in the production of various research outputs, including thought leadership papers looking at any class of real assets (property, infrastructure, listed real estate, etc.) in the various European markets.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist in the production of rent, yield, vacancy rate and other key variables forecasts for 100+ city and sector combinations using econometric/statistical models.
  • Review existing forecasting models for improvement using innovative technical processes.
  • Maintain and improve real estate databases; update chart books, slide decks, etc.
  • Assist in drafting acquisition/disposition research reports for European assets.
  • Contribute to department thought leadership papers and specific research projects at -European and Global level.
  • Service ad hoc requests.

Skills required & experience

  • Education to degree level in economics, econometrics, statistics/mathematics, or related subjects; Master’s degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Have 0-3 years of experience as an analyst of investment markets; some knowledge of the real estate discipline would be advantageous.
  • The ability to handle and manipulate large amounts of data, to build an econometric model and present the analysis graphically.
  • Advanced analytical skills, including a solid foundation in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; Experience with EViews (or other statistical modelling software) is expected.
  • Knowledge of programming in R and/or Python is an advantage.
  • Excellent command of English, both verbal and written; Competency/fluency in French or another European language is desirable.
